BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL / KMSS) – Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser made a stop over in Bossier City on the Wednesday afternoon before this weekend’s Bayou Classic.

He said it was an exciting time for the region as tourism numbers continue to break records despite the pandemic.

Nungesser mentioned the importance of staying safe while supporting local businesses.

“Wear your mask, let’s keep it safe,” said Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser. “But we have to open our doors again. Every week we’re not out there to support the local economy, someone is not going to make it. “

The lieutenant governor says real friendliness in Louisiana draws visitors to the state.

“We treat strangers like family members. And usually you leave Louisiana with a friend for life, ”said Nungesser. “And up here in northern Louisiana, it’s just good, friendly people who welcome strangers with open arms. And that just doesn’t happen all over the world. “

He stated that every state was competing for the same tourism dollars, so he encouraged everyone to get out and support Louisiana.
