The hotel manager of Mackinaw City berates the customer

A customer filmed a hotel manager in Mackinaw City berating her for having a broken toilet in her room.

A Mackinaw City The hotel fired one of its managers after video footage from a previous customer interaction showed the man berating a customer and addressing him with insults and insults.

The footage was taken by a woman on a spring break trip up north Michigan with her family when they stopped at the Crown Choice Inn & Suites. In a Facebook post posted in early May, she said she found her bathroom toilet flooded and went to the front desk for help.

Instead, the man behind the desk, identified as Benny Lucchese, said she was “in charge of this room” and “it is now your bathroom”.

He also called her a “stupid democrat”, “pieces of s ***” and a “stupid ass”.

According to Jennifer Biela’s Facebook post, the scene developed late at night in early April.

“I ran down to the front desk. He asked me if I would turn off the valve and I said no, I will come to you for help. He explained that since I refused to turn off the water, it was my responsibility and he called them Police to charge me with malicious destruction of property, “read the post.

Alongside the post, three separate videos of the encounter were shared.

“Stop being an idiot and start thinking with your mind, okay?” Says Lucchese. “Stop being a Democrat – a stupid Democrat and go to your room, pack your things and go.”

Biela was also told that she would be billed for rent and damages, to which she replied, “I won’t pay a penny.”

“Oh okay. That’s okay. Then go. If you think I’m not going to burden you, then go,” says Lucchese. “I charge you up.”

According to the hotel’s ratings section on the Mackinaw City Chamber of Tourism website, it was rated 4.5 out of 5 based on 703 user reviews. However, on third-party websites that rate the hotel like Yelp, that rating had dropped to 1.5 stars.

The travel review website has also turned off posting on its website about the hotel due to “increased publicity”.

Biela said she waited to share the experience until she was sure she wouldn’t be charged by the police.

She confirmed with FOX 2 that she was not reimbursed for the hotel stay. She denied her credit card, but her friend’s dispute was denied and she was billed for a two night stay.
