Muscat: Majlis Al Shura will receive the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, during the 11th Ordinary Meeting of the Second Annual Session (2020-2021) of the Ninth Term (2019-2023) on Sunday.

The regular meeting would discuss the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Declaration, which is the Ministry’s first declaration before Majlis Al Shura.

The statement discusses five key issues, plus the actual state of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism under the current and potential impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This aspect also deals with the planned contribution of the tourism sector in the Tenth Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), the government-related strategic projects and investments in tourism in 2040, as well as investments in integrated tourism complexes.

The second aspect would address the legislation regulating the tourism sector, developments in the Tourism Act, the updating of the Tourism Act regulation, the results of the National Economic Diversification Program, and the fees and taxes associated with licenses, activities and tourism services.

The third aspect of the ministry’s statement would, among other things, address the future of marketing and tourism promotion.

The fourth aspect would focus on human resources in the tourism sector and highlight the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector.

The fifth aspect would deal with the policies, plans and programs that the Ministry is working on in the area of ​​cultural heritage.

This aspect would also refer to the Ministry’s efforts and development plans in the field of cultural heritage sites, particularly those on the UNESCO list of international cultural heritage sites. Renovation of cultural heritage sites and maintenance of renovated forts, old mosques and historical buildings among others.
