The Turkish tourism sector has turned to international wedding organizers this year to help recover from the negative effects of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“Wedding organizers are more profitable than other types of tourism,” Nalan Yesilyurt, board member of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, told Xinhua.

“The money that is spent on such events in a week alone is equivalent to what normal tourists spend in a month.”

She said foreign wedding organizers are increasingly giving preference to Turkey’s Mediterranean and Aegean coastal resorts that offer “unique and exclusive” services in high-end hotels, marinas and restaurants.

“Bodrum (in southwest Mugla Province) has shone like a star, especially with its lively nightlife, marinas that attract jet-set yachts, and restaurants with celebrity chefs,” Yesilyurt said. [Xinhua]
