JACKSON, MISS. – Governor Tate Reeves declared October 19-23, 2020, Mississippi Fall Storm Preparation Week.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is reminding residents of the free resources that are offered to ensure everyone is safe in inclement weather.

“Storms are nothing new to Mississippians. This year alone, residents across the state have battled tornadoes, tropical systems, flash floods and more, ”said Melinda McGrath, PE, MDOT Executive Director. “MDOT provides free travel resources so everyone can protect themselves and their families.”

When dangerous weather conditions arise, drivers can use the free MDOT Traffic mobile app to access real-time tools that display road conditions and traffic warnings. The alarm pens are interactive and provide users with additional information at the push of a button. The public can also access the same travel information by visiting it MDOTtraffic.com.
