Calling all travelers looking for new travel experiences off the beaten track for 2022!

A booking platform for accommodations has many surprises in store for the coming year with some really extraordinary top trend destinations.

Forget New York, Los Angeles, and even Chicago, as Atlanta is the United States travel destination that should be all the rage for next year when tourism enters a pivotal year for its recovery.

This is how Booking.com predicts, which has developed eight ideas to get off the popular tourist routes on your short breaks in 2022. With its list of the “top trend” targets for 2022, the platform highlights cities that are seldom considered a stopover for vacation.

In fact, Atlanta (in Georgia, USA) hasn’t really been in the limelight since 1996, when the state capital hosted the Summer Olympics.

Outside of the US, Booking.com has some hot tips for traveling in Asia.

While the hit show Squid Game is likely to get many viewers planning trips to South Korea, these hip destinations offer some alternative Asian escapades with a focus on Taiwan’s second largest city, Taichung, second on the list.

A little more than two hours by car from the capital Taipei, the former village of Chinese settlers has developed into a city with almost three million inhabitants.

Curious tourists can explore the historic temples and fascinating past.

Still not convinced? How about Brazil then? But instead of Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro – or even the Amazon rainforest – Booking.com takes us towards the border with Uruguay and Gramado.

“With charming boutiques, restaurants serving chocolate and fondue, and pedestrian crossings – Gramado feels like a quaint Swiss village in the heart of South America,” explains Booking.com

As for France – the world’s most popular travel destination before the Covid-19 crisis – the city of Montpellier ranks seventh on the list. – AFP

* In the meantime, Malaysia’s own historic city of Melaka (picture) is also mentioned. Together with George Town, Penang, the state was officially included in the Unesco World Heritage List in 2008 in the “Historic City” category. At the moment, all eyes are on the state, as the state elections are due to take place on November 20th.
