Michigan quarterbacks Cade McNamara entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to Chris Hummerand becomes the first major quarterback domino to fall ahead of what’s expected to be a busy portal season in the coming weeks. McNamara, who is out for the season after undergoing surgery earlier this month, was a third-team All-Big Ten pick last season and led Michigan to its first Big Ten title in 17 years before losing his starting job to JJ McCarthy.

McNamara was a four-star recruit in 2019 out of Reno (Nev.) Damonte Ranch. he was the no 8 pro-style quarterbacks in his class. McNamara led the Michigan offense in 2021 with 2,576 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions, including a win over Ohio State, Big Ten championship and an appearance in the College Football Playoff semifinals against Georgia.

After four years in Ann Arbor, Michigan, McNamara’s career ends with 3,181 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 21 career games.
