MISSOULA – The Missoula County’s Department of Health (MCCHD) tells MTN News that they are tracking a surge in COVID-19 cases.

The last seven-day average is eight new daily cases per 1,000 people, which is a jump from an average of four in the past week indicates community expansion.

Of course, the boom comes with travel as people enjoy what the Montana tourism industry has to offer.

MCCHD says this travel test is the fastest way to detect and prevent spread. People are encouraged to book appointments in advance of travel to ensure they receive their results on time.
For tourists and those temporarily working here in ranches or tourist places – they should get tested if they show symptoms.

“Anyone like this, we definitely want to be tested if they feel they have symptoms of COVID,” said Cindy Farr, Missoula County’s COVID-19 commander.

Farr stated that visitors staying for an extended period of time will be able to use the county’s test site, but this is not suitable for people stopping in the area for a short excursion.

Farr said walkable places like Cost Care or Grant Creek Family Medicine are better for tourists. “

“If it’s just someone passing through and developing symptoms, they’re only going to be here for a weekend or something.”

“We definitely want to reserve them [county] Resources for the people who live here, ”said Farr.

Missoula County residents or long-term visitors can get tested for free at the MCCHD Testing Clinic at 4025 Flynn Lane. Call (406) 258-INFO for planning.
