In a special event on Monday, the Ministries of Defense, Culture and Tourism signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to promote military tourism.

Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Culture and Sport Minister Lina Mendoni and Tourism Minister Harry Theocharis agreed to coordinate measures to promote military tourism in Greece.

The Athens War Museum is at the center of these upcoming activities.

The aim is to promote every relevant museum, collection and monument of military interest from the history of the country’s army, navy and air forces.

Military tourism is a relatively new but rapidly growing type of tourism internationally, and Greece has many such attractions.

The announcement states that it will highlight places where significant historical events took place, such as land and sea battles.
