The city crews continue to work on completing Rank 2 roads according to the City snow plan. Waste Management, Sewerage, Environmental Services, Regulatory Enforcement, Wastewater Treatment, and Parks employees assist Streets & Roads and Water Quality in clearing snow. The crews will continue to work 12 hour shifts until all classified roads have been treated.

There is no garbage collection on Friday. Collection on Friday will be on Wednesday, January 12th. On Saturday January 8th, waste management will serve downtown, emergencies and any Thursday pickups that haven’t been completed due to the weather. The day of free garbage disposal planned for Saturday, January 8th has been postponed to a later date.

City offices not involved in clearing snow and not dealing with emergencies will be closed on Friday 7 January due to weather conditions. The Lexington Senior Center will be closed on Friday, January 7th. The Family Care Center is closed on Friday. The UK Clinic has normal opening hours, but patients are advised to call ahead to be sure.

Emergency weather plan

The Office for Homeless Prevention and Intervention Community emergency winter weather plan has been activated and will remain so until Saturday morning, January 8th, due to the cold temperatures. The Catholic Action Center is working with Lighthouse Ministry to provide shelter until 10am on Saturday.
