The Maple River / United South Central wrestling team took three big wins at the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva square meet on Thursday, December 23rd.
MR / USC defeated the hosts NRHEG Panthers 56-21, defeated the Mankato East Cougars 59-13 and the Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Knights 75-3.
MR / USC 56, NRHEG 21
The Maple River / USC team started with four forfaits from the hosting NRHEG team.
Brayden Mithun with 106 pounds, Wyatt Walters with 113, Kolt Bullerman with 120 and Braxton Simon with 126 all won six points for the team.
At 132 pounds, MR / USC’s Boden Simon scored a 19-3 technical fall over Deven Parpart.
Ethan Evenson lost a 4-2 decision against Nikolas Petsinger of NRHEG with 138 pounds.
Byron Getchell, at 145 pounds, and Konner Harpestad, at 152 pounds, both received forfaits for MR / USC. Then Ethan Evenson won a 2-0 decision over Clay Stenzel with 160 and Cooper Ochsendorf won with 170 lost.
Noah Ziegler of MR / USC fell to George Roesler for £ 182 and MR / USC lost £ 195.
Thayne Decker won by falling 220 pounds ahead of Cole Hutchens and Colten Berkner of MR / USC lost 285 pounds by falling.

The match against Mankato East was briefly close until MR / USC began to dominate.
