The River Terrace Inn has been able to hire some friends and family members of existing employees as housekeepers, the GM said.

“We’re ready now,” but “we could definitely use four more people in our housekeeping department,” Farrow said.

The inn uses a hiring bonus as an incentive to attract these workers, he explained. After 30, 60, and 90 days on the job, new employees receive $ 200 bonus payments.

“We’ve also increased our wages for housekeepers and cooks,” Farrow said. Housekeepers can now make anywhere from $ 16 to $ 18 an hour, and kitchen workers can make $ 19 or more.

“It was necessary to fill some of these positions,” Farrow said.

The hotel has chosen another option: guests can opt out of the daily cleaning service. Those who forego daily service will receive food and drink credits, Farrow said.

Michael Collins, general manager of Archer Napa, said his hotel is seeing a recovery in travel not only in the leisure market but also in the corporate market.

“It’s wonderful to see group business return to our hotel,” said Collins.

“As soon as the restrictions in Northern California were lifted, we saw an immediate boom in business that lasted not only for weekend trips but also for weekday trips.”
