(WBNG) – Biden’s government is considering getting flyers to prove they’ve received a negative COVID-19 test before traveling domestically.

People flying to the US internationally are currently required to have a negative test.

Airlines like Southwest and Delta are pushing back against change, and local travel agents who struggled during the pandemic believe that imposing tests domestically would be another big hit for the aviation industry.

But they have mixed reactions to it themselves.

“I believe this would be detrimental to an already crippling aviation industry right now, but I also think it would make people safer and feel they can make that choice,” said Carolyn Waffle of Carolyn Waffle Certified Travel.

Cruise Planners’ Mary May also said, “I get it, but don’t see it as achievable to make sure these numbers, data, and resources are all there.”

May and Waffle agree that implementing these test procedures will require better access to simple tests. Waffle even shared her own experience when she said in November 2020 that she had to drive all the way to New Jersey to take a test in order for it to be valid for her destination’s test restrictions.

Both women add that while it was a challenging year, people still want to travel and some already do.
