COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – Visit Colorado Springs is confident that after a very difficult year of shutdowns and restrictions, 2021 will be a relaxing year with new attractions and projects in the Pikes Peak area this year.

Visitors are usually drawn to the Garden of the Gods, the parks in Manitou Springs, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and more. With the Rack railway and Pikes Peak Summit House Reopening this summer and Southwest Airlines are coming to town in MarchVisit COS is confident that these projects can help our small businesses and the local economy.

“The travel and tourism industry was of course one of the industries hardest hit during the pandemic. So we expect 2021 to be a recreational year in the Pikes Peak area and it is great that we now have the capacity to have our restaurants open with some indoor restaurants, ”said Alexea Veneracion of Visit COS.

Visit COS encourages travelers to plan and book travel in advance, whether waiting for the second half of the year, when more vaccines may be rolled out, or even exploring locally. Visit COS said workers left about a third of their paid free time on the table last year.

“If we either had to cancel planned trips or simply had to take this off the table for the foreseeable future, it is difficult for people whether they are wasting time with loved ones, whether you are going on a trip with them or not. I only take these breaks from of work, ”said Veneracion.

In using PTO when you can, the US Travel Association encourages Americans to actually plan their free time for both personal health and wellbeing, and to help the economic health of our country.
