NASSAU COUNTY, Florida. Hundreds of supporters showed up in cars old and new on Saturday to take part in a Callahan Cruisers-organized car cruise in honor of fallen Nassau County MP Joshua Moyers.

Moyers was killed on September 24th when he was shot at a traffic control on Sandy Ford Road near US 301.

The man accused of shooting Moyers, who was arrested after a five-day manhunt, was charged with first degree murder and prosecutors announced on Friday that they were will apply for the death penalty when he’s convicted.

The drive on Saturday was all about Moyers and his family. The participants met at the target in Yulee and drove to the Hardee’s in Callahan.

Callahan Cruisers run cruises like this one every second Saturday of the month to serve a variety of purposes.

All donations raised from Saturday’s event will go to the Moyers family.

Two similar cruises took place thereafter Nassau County MP Eric Oliver was killed raised approximately $ 13,000 on duty in 2016.

Cruisers members said they were happy to host an event for the benefit of the Moyers family.

“Callahan and Nassau County is a tightly knit community. It’s about helping each other when we can, ”said cruiser Ally Mangold.

Gregory Cole took the cruise and said it was events like this that bring the community together.

“This little town of Callahan feels really big sometimes, with all the support,” said Cole. “Hopefully we can bring some love and support to the family with everyone out here.”

Oliver’s family attended the event on Saturday, telling News4Jax how much the cruise events had helped their family when Oliver passed away. We’ll have more on that later tonight.
