COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The former College Station Police Department and Fire Station will soon house the city’s new tourist office and event space.

College Station City Council unanimously voted to accept the new project at its council meeting last week. Part of the space currently houses the city’s human resources and maintenance departments. They will move to the new town hall development which is currently under construction.

Emily Fisher, assistant director of capital projects at City of College Station, says the renovation and investment in the existing property will benefit the city and the community.

“It’s a good building, it’s in good shape, and it’s next to the new town hall,” said Fisher. “The idea was to create some kind of welcoming center for college station visitors, a place where events could take place, possibly and some more office space for the tourism department.”

The renovation work will begin as soon as the construction of the town hall is completed in spring 2022.
