NEW ULM – The New Ulm boys’ basketball team didn’t score 100 points, but they played 100%.

It’s fair to say 110%.

The Eagles had Le Sueur-Henderson on their heels all Saturday afternoon at New Ulm High School as they drove to a 95-38 win in non-conference action.

The Eagles (8-4) were led by James Osborne with 30 points, Colton Benson had 19 points and Charlie Osborne 17. Zander Fischer was the fourth Eagle in double digits with 13 points.

LSH (4-7) was led by Gage Bishop with 12 points while Dylan Kahlow scored 10.

Kahlow gave the Giants a 2-0 lead early with a basket in the paint, but it was quickly taken away after a 3 from Benson and a layup from James Osborne. The Eagles then hit the gas pedal and went for a 25-6 lead on an 18-0 run, with a 3 from James Osborne ending the run.

After the Giants finally got back on the board with another bucket from Kahlow, the Eagles got an 11-0 run to take a 36-8 lead. The run was highlighted and capped off with a steal and dunk by James Osborne.

James Osborne also had the last points of the half after burying a 3, and the Eagles led 55-25 at halftime.

The Giants started the second half with a short 4-0 run before the Eagles went into full swing with an 8-0 run to lead 63-29.

Shortly thereafter, the Eagles took a 19-0 lead and led 82-33. That 19-0 run, the Eagles’ biggest run of the day, started with a rare four-point play from Charlie Osborne and ended with a steal from Garrett Foley and a plate on James Osborne for one and one.

The Eagles got a late 3 from Cale Dennis and a driving layup from Ayden Jensen to round out the goal in the game.

New Ulm are at Sibley East for another non-conference game on Tuesday.
