Waco’s newest assistant city manager has a customer service background that community leaders have been looking for.

Bradley Ford, Waco city manager, hired Lisa Blackmon, the current acting city manager of Manteca, California, as one of three assistant city managers.

After working in the Napa, California hotel industry, Blackmon joined the city of Napa as an assistant town clerk in 2011. She entered the city of Manteca in 2016 and served as Deputy Director of Emergency Services, Director of Legislative Services and Deputy Information Officer.

“Lisa really excelled in the search process with her unique background and combination of experience in both local government administration and the hospitality and tourism industries,” said Ford. “I think she will take a creative, thoughtful and responsive approach to run Waco’s tourism and quality of life departments. I am very happy that you and your family are joining us in Waco. “

Blackmon and her family will be moving to Texas with her family by mid-June, according to a press release from the City of Waco.

“I met this position on a trip to visit my family in Waco and I really fell in love with the city and all it has to offer,” said Blackmon. “So many great things are happening in Waco and I look forward to joining the team and driving customer service and the general local and visitor experiences of the city.”
