NIAGARA FALLS, NY (WIVB) – With the northern border closed, the Mayor of Niagara Falls is hoping Americans will help fill the missing tourist hole this summer.

Rob Restaino says bus tours are making a comeback.

He thinks this summer will be promising. But Restaino admits that due to the lack of international visitors, he doesn’t think they will break records.

But the city is seeing increasing activity from the northeast and mid-Atlantic states.

“We have to capitalize on the fact that people still want to see Niagara Falls. It is a…. It’s a miracle. And I know that if we kept stressing the rest of the nation, this is where you want to relax, ”Mayor Restaino said.

Only last week the Cuomo administration announced the international campaign “Come be a Part of It”.

The state is spending $ 40 million getting people to visit New York while on vacation.
