LEXINGTON, VA. The second-placed Washington and Lee women’s lacrosse team had a 47-2 lead on shots and junior attackers Maggie Frankel (Oyster Bay, NY / Oyster Bay) scored a total of five goals and one assist when the Generals defeated Bridgewater 29-0 on Wednesday at Watt Field.

In blue and white (11-0, 8-0 ODAC), 14 different players scored a goal in the game and 17 players recorded a point. In the first 10 minutes of the competition, W&L scored nine goals with a junior attacker Katherine Faria (Cold Spring Harbor, NY / Cold Spring Harbor) with two gates and a template. During the same route, second attacker Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton) had one goal and three assists.

In the last 20 minutes of the half, senior attacker Landon Shelley (Charlotte, NC / Myers Park) posted three assists as the Generals scored 10 more goals to take them 19-0 at halftime. Frankel dominated the second half for blue and white, scoring all five goals during that period while adding an assist. In the last 30 minutes, W&L scored 10 extra goals to reach the final 29-0 lead.

Coupled with the 45-shot advantage, the Generals secured 23 draw controls versus eight for the Eagles (3-7, 3-5 ODAC). Bridgewater made 17 turnovers while W&L flipped those only four times, with all four coming after the break. The blues and whites also led in ground balls, 21-8.

Frankel was leading with her six points, while two players had five points. Shelley finished with one goal and four assists and attackers in the first year Alex Petras (Manhasset, NY / Manhasset) scored four goals and one assist. With her four assists, Shelley now has 38 a year, making it the fifth best overall season in program history.

Schwab finished the game with one goal and three assists, and Faria had two goals and two assists. First year attacker Hanna Bishop (Bronxville, NY / Bronxville) scored three goals and was a senior midfielder Kit McNiff (Chatham, NJ / Chatham) and Junior Attackers Janie Stillwell (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) each had two goals and one assist.

Junior midfielder McKenna Edmondson (Westfield, NJ / Westfield) and second midfielder Christina Cavallo (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens & St. Agnes’ School) and Jenny Lisovicz (Glen Ridge, NJ / Glen Ridge) all had two goals.

Junior midfielder Liv Truesdell (New York, NY / Convent of the Sacred Heart), second midfielder Blake Cote (Bedford, NY / Westminster School) and freshman midfielder Ginny Taylor (Madison, NJ / Madison) each had a goal. Sophomore attacker Tati Monteleone (New York, NY / Hackley School) and freshman midfielder Walker McKnight (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) and Julia Thomson (Larchmont, NY / Hackley School) each had one support.

Lisovicz grabbed the team’s top six draw controls while Taylor added five. Edmonds led the team with two caused turnovers and a second defender Caroline Wise (Charlotte, NC / Myers Park) had the team’s top three ground balls.

First year Caroline crane (State College, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) started in goal for W&L and scored a save in 19:56. Junior Sam presents (Montville, NJ / Mountain Lakes) played for the next 20 minutes and the first year Stefanie Chiguluri (Fairview, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) ended the game. Senior goalkeeper Mikaela Brooks played the full game for the Eagles and stopped 12 shots.

This is the 19th time in program history that the Generals have ruled out an opponent, most recently in 2019. W&L also linked its program record for the profit margin it got on its last game against Virginia Wesleyan.

The win extends the team’s record-breaking home winning streak to 27 games, going back to March 17, 2018.

The generals have secured first place for the ODAC tournament and will see them again with the semi-finals, which will take place next Friday, April 30th. W&L will match the winner of the quarter final between seed # 4 and seed # 5, which will take place on Wednesday April 28th.

The last games of the regular conference season will take place on Saturday. Upon completion, the ODAC will announce the seeds for the tournament.
