AUSTIN, Texas – # 3 Texas Baseball defeated Abilene Christian 18-0 on Friday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns have won 11 games in a row and improved to 28-8 for the season, including a 20-2 Brand at home.

Ty Madden (5-1) was dominant, throwing five innings and striking eight, while three hits and three walks resulted in victory. Douglas Hodo III and Murphy Stehly Each had two hits and three RBI to lead the offensive.

Texas rolled early, over-running five runs in the first inning with three hits and three walks. Mike Antico led away from the inning with a walk, quickly stole second, and finished third due to a throwing error. Two batters later Zach Zubia hit the first place he saw in the center left to bring Antico home. After a walk too Ivan MelendezA wild playing field allowed Zubia and Melendez to climb a base. Hodo hit on the left to get both runners. Eric Kennedy A walk followed to place the runners and the first and second for Cam Williamswho drilled a double right to bring Hodo and Kennedy home to a 5-0 lead in Texas.

Texas added another in the second inning, with Antico starting the inning with a base hit through the right side and then stealing the second to get into goal position. Mitchell Daly drove him home with a single by the left side to extend the lead in Texas 6-0.

In the third inning Silas Ardoin went to open the frame and moved up to second place on a victim. Kennedy knocked out an infield single that took Ardoin to third, and then Kennedy stole second. Williams was hit by bad luck to load the bases for Faltine, who went to start a run and score the 7-0. Antico followed briefly to the left with a prey fly in a lazy area that Kennedy hit. Daly then stepped in and punched a single through the right side, scoring Williams and moving Faltine to third, with Daly moving to second after a wrong throw by the right fielder. After a Zubia stroll, Melendez hit right field to bring Faltine and Daly home and put Texas 11-0 ahead.

Hodo scored the 12-0 in the fourth game and led the inning with a solo shot to the left, his second game in a row with a home run.

Texas started another run in the fifth inning after Antico finished the inning with a single and moved up to second in second place. Zubia then scored in the center left to bring Antico to make it 13-0.

Another run came for Texas in the sixth to 14-0. Dalton Porter and Kennedy took off in a row to open the inning, then Faltine smoked a one-time double to the left in the center that hit Porter.

Murphy Stehly doubled in two more runs in seventh, making it 16-0. Porter took a one-off stroll and Kennedy followed with an infield single, with Porter finishing third. Stehly drove the next space into the gap in the center right to clear the bases.

The Longhorns added two more runs in the eighth run to end the ranking 18-0. Peter Geib started the inning with a walk and moved up to second place Peyton Powells Single by the left side. Caston Peter went to load the bases, then Porter went back to the pitcher to score a run. Stehly followed two Batters later with a single that earned Powell.

The Longhorns scored one goal in each inning, with each starter scoring at least one run before the end of the third inning.

Coy Cobb, Jared Southard and Caden Noah each threw scoreless innings from the bullpen while Drew Shifflet threw a 1-2-3 ninth to end the game.

The Longhorns and Wildcats will resume the series on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
