NOMAD LONDON

Designer: Roman & Williams

On offer: Tucked away in a 19th century former magistrate’s court and police station across from the Royal Opera House of Covent Garden, NoMad London is the brand’s first international outpost. It’s also the first house without the Parisian architect and interior designer Jacques Garcia at the helm. Instead, the renowned New York studio Roman & Williams has taken the helm. Known for their sumptuous interiors seen in hotel projects such as the Ace Hotel New Orleans and the Chicago Athletic Association, Principles Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch interpreted the NoMad aesthetic – rich textiles, antique furniture, and a collection of over 1,600 American and European avant-garde works curated by long-term employees Be Poland– and interweave influences from Great Britain and New York, the origin of the brand.

Outstanding functions: The NoMad’s contemporary take on opulence and glamor is always something to see, but its loyal fan base will tell you that the culinary program is always the brightest. In London, a towering three-story Edwardian atrium houses the popular eponymous restaurant, where chef Ashley Abodeely focuses on local ingredients from the farm, field and coast. A highlight is the Fireplace Room, whose atmospheric aesthetics of flower blossom tub wallpaper and blue velvet benches create an impeccable atmosphere for classic drinks, courtesy of the brand’s proven cocktail duo Pietro Collina and Leo Robitschek. Coming soon: Common Decency, NoMad’s very first lounge with an East-West theme.
