BISMARCK, ND (KFYR) – Travel has declined since the pandemic began, but the North Dakota tourism industry expects 70 to 80 percent of road tourism to return to normal this summer.

Research shows that Americans primarily seek vacations in the form of scenic drives, national park visits, and road trips. Since North Dakota has a lot of open space, the state is prepared for visitors.

“We’re not reinventing ourselves to adapt to post-pandemic travel interests,” said Sara Otte Coleman, North Dakota Department of Commerce. “We always have. It’s our real experience. ”

Coleman added that the tourism industry is on the way to recovery.

In addition, the North Dakota tourism guide is said to have content focused on travel during the pandemic and will be released in April.
