Norwegian Cruise Line has removed all July and August cruises from its website. There could be several reasons for this, but the cruise line is likely to announce another suspension, but not in the way of extended breaks as before.

This is due to the fact that NCL did some planning behind the scenes by redeploying ships and making changes to the itineraries. An important announcement is expected each day, with the cruise line detailing its plans for the coming months.

Norwegian Cruise Line removes sails

On Saturday afternoon, NCL cruisers discovered that Norwegian Cruise Line had removed all cruises in July and through August 2021. These months can no longer be selected on their website. Guests can only book cruises starting in September, including departures from the United States.

At the time of reporting, NCL has not announced any further cancellations and the suspension is on currently in force until June 2021. Of the three major cruise lines, Norwegian Cruise Line has the longest suspension, scheduled for July. However, this could change soon.

Not the suspension you might think

The cruise industry has lost confidence in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and is working to resume cruises. A few days ago the CDC published the first part of the second phase However, these conditional sailing instructions give no further hope of an early restart by summer.

One reason is that Norwegian Cruise Line could extend its cruise suspension until September 2021. Many might think this is the case, but there are some indications of something else.

In the past few weeks, the cruise line has canceled crossings for at least five ships until November. Affected guests have already published a letter about these cancellations due to reallocations. NCL has also confirmed with Cruise Hive that there would soon be an announcement regarding ship relocations.

Nothing is fully known until the cruise lines publish an announcement. Even so, it looks like NCL could end regular operations and instead introduce new alternative voyages for some of its ships.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises have already started moving ships out of the US for the summer. Several new home ports have recently been announced between the two cruise lines and there are rumors that the Norwegian cruise line may be planning the same thing.

Since cruises were allowed in the UK from May 17th, we were able to see sailing or even alternative home ports in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean from there. Hopefully we will know soon. Check Cruise Hive for the latest developments.
