The Cultural Tourism Marketing Committee has seen an increase of 20 percent in hotel occupancy in Luxor. The committee also announced that the number of rooms tourists book in Luxor rose in November. TThese rates are expected to increase after the Rams Road procession is celebrated.

Luxor is the capital of civilization and a source of history, said Mohamed Othman, head of the cultural tourism marketing committee.

The current development of the infrastructure and the restoration of monuments in Luxor is the result of the interest of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in the civilization and cultural production project, as well as his awareness of the importance of the cultural tourism aspect that sets Egyptians apart from other nations, added Othman.

He added that work is currently in full swing to make the Rams Road celebration in a way no less than the “Royal Mummy Procession”.

The average daily tourist spending rate is a positive reflection of this year’s total revenue, he added.

Othman confirmed that the Cultural Tourism Marketing Committee is currently planning a series of events for the coming period to promote cultural tourism in Upper Egypt and support joint travel programs. The aim is to establish a connection between beach tourism and cultural tourism.
