The turkey spring season kicks off nationwide on April 19th

All Maryland licensed hunters can attempt to bag a wild turkey during the turkey spring season, April 19 through May 24. Time highs in many parts of the state. “From April 19th to May 10th, hunting is allowed from half an hour before sunrise until noon. From May 11th to 24th, the hunting hours are half an hour before sunrise to sunset. The daily pocket limit is one bearded turkey with a seasonal limit of two bearded turkeys. Hunters are reminded to read and follow the full turkey hunting regulations, which can be found at www.dnr.maryland.gov.

Patrons can check out fishing rods at the local library

As of 2018, the Brunswick Branch Library, 915 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, has offered fishing rods that library card holders can check out for free. The program began with help from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and was supported by Brunswick Sports & Apparel. Customers can borrow two fishing rods at the same time for up to a week. Fishing licenses are required for people over the age of 16. Licenses can be purchased from Brunswick Sports & Apparel, 302 W. Potomac St., Brunswick. The Brunswick office will celebrate 10 years of community service on April 17th during operating hours.

MPT programming highlights the bay

April 18-24 is Chesapeake Bay Week on MPT with special programs featuring more than 30 documentaries and programs highlighting the importance and fragility of the bay. “Creatures of the Chesapeake,” April 20th at 8pm, offers an in-depth look at some of the bay’s legendary creatures, such as the moon jellyfish and oyster toadfish. The new publication focuses on kayak fishing

The Outdoor Sportsman Group has introduced Kayak Fishing Fun, a new publishing and programming company of particular interest. The print magazine was published on April 14th. The 120-page publication tells readers everything they need to know about buying the best fishing kayak for their needs, the right equipment, and how to operate a kayak safely and efficiently.
