The new year has only just begun, but the posh Hotel Emma has already received another major award.

On February 2, US News & World Report published its 50 best hotels in the US for 2021The Pearl Hotel is one of only two Texas hotels to be on the prestigious list.

Hotel Emma ranks 23rd in the nation and receives major points for its “eccentric details” on the report. (Last year as CultureMap reportedThe Emma was the only hotel in Texas to make the US News & World Report list.)

Guests are greeted with a homemade margarita before they are taken to rooms with dark wood and leather furniture and pillows with vibrant patterns. In-room amenities range from flat-screen televisions to seersucker robes to in-room pantries filled with locally made produce.

Dinner is served courtesy of Supper, the advertised on-site restaurant, or Larder, the on-site boutique grocery store. But it’s the service, says US News, that brings customers back.

“Tenants are delighted with the service, as is the hotel’s location just 2 miles north of downtown,” the report said.

At number 13 is Houston’s The Post Oak Hotel, owned by billionaire Tilman Fertitta.

A “spacious lobby with crystal chandeliers” will be in the listingAs well as the Post Oak’s “great” accommodations, including smart TVs, marble bathrooms and personal fitness areas. The Fertitta wine cellar with 30,000 bottles of world-class vintages from the 19th century is also a highlight of the list. The hotel’s six restaurants, which range from chic casual to upscale steakhouse (Mastro’s), also receive positive mention.

Since opening, the Post Oak has been the only Forbes Double Five-Star hotel in Texas. Located in the heart of Post Oak, the 10-acre property has 38 floors, a presidential suite, 250 guest rooms and suites. 20 executive residences; and an elegant 35,000 square foot conference facility, including the largest ballroom in Uptown Houston.

“When I built this hotel, I really wanted it to be different from anything else,” Fertitta said in a statement. “This recognition shows that we are some of the best in the country and I am proud to bring such an iconic destination to Houston.”
