MIAMI, March 30, 2021 / PRNewswire / – P&O Cruises Australia is extending its hospitality break through July this year as there continues to be a positive path for the cruise industry to return to service.
The current rolling pause will affect cruises running June 18 through June 18 July 30, 2021 (including).
P&O Cruises can also cancel trips to Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands for the rest of the year given the uncertainty around the borders. Unfortunately, this also affects this year’s Cairns season, in which Pacific Explorer should be stationed for two months from October.
Guests and travel agents are contacted directly with solutions and alternative arrangements that are tailored from booking to booking.
“We are sorry that these changes to the existing schedule will inevitably bother some of our guests if we remain optimistic about returning to service as society continues to open,” said Sture Myrmell, President of P&O Cruises Australia.
“We are continuing our discussions with governments and health authorities to develop a framework for the gradual resumption of cruising.
“As these discussions continue, today’s changes are necessary as we take a hands-on approach to the current environment and we continue to look forward to better days.”
Mr Myrmell said the cruise line had written to guests affected by the extended break and other operational changes to apologize for disrupting their vacation plans and to advise them of alternative arrangements.
Despite the challenges of the past year, P&O Cruises has continued its fleet transformation to resume its leadership role as P&O Cruises Australia Self-cultivated cruise line.
“That includes preparing Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure to join the P&O fleet this year to provide a very special cruise experience when we can sail again,” said Myrmell.
