It was commonplace for the Western Lady Indians to win two out of three college basketball games.

Winning a non-league win in Manchester was part of a super Saturday sweep for westerns as the juniors and boys won the triple header too.

For the Lady Indians, the 19-point surplus in the third quarter was enough to turn a five-point deficit into a three-point lead of 31:28. Western continued the strong performance in the fourth quarter, beating the Lady Greyhounds 11-4 to complete the 42:34 win.

Western was led by senior Chloe Beekman who scored 17 points. Jordyn Rittenhouse followed with 10 points.

Western returned to the league and traveled to Lawrence County Monday night, where he suffered a 62-52 loss to the host Symmes Valley Lady Vikings.

The game was consistently close, but Western couldn’t quite keep up with the Vikings’ goals.

Symmes Valley led 12-9 in the first quarter and 31-25 in the half. At the end of the third, the Lady Vikings stayed in front with five, 45:40. They ended the win by beating Western 17-12 in the last frame, 62-52.

Western’s Kenzi Ferneau scored a game-high 22 in the loss, followed by Jordyn Rittenhouse who had 17 points. Kylee Thompson led the Lady Vikings with 21 points, followed by Desiree Simpson with 13.

Western got off to a dominant start, shooting past Clay by 56-17 points on Thursday evening, behind a 29-point attempt in the first quarter.

Kenzi Ferneau led Westerns attack in the quarter, scoring eleven with three triples. Jordyn Rittenhouse added 10 more points. Taylor Grooms finished in the points with two buckets, while Breleigh Tackett and Alssya Marhoover each had one.

By the time the game ended, every available player had minutes left with the exception of Emma Henderson, who was injured.

Ferneau led the scoring with 24 points, including seven threes, while Rittenhouse added 16 points with three threes.

Western will travel to Sciotoville East on Monday evening.
