This includes health declarations, pre-departure tests, and details of quarantine procedures. Meanwhile, the Immigration Service has also released an updated set of procedures for citizens wishing to leave Malaysia on August 12, 2021.

The Immigration Service of Malaysia has released a flowchart for travelers entering Malaysia effective August 10, 2021 (Tuesday).

This flow chart, shared in a Facebook post, describes the procedures that apply prior to departure for Malaysia, upon arrival at the Malaysian international entry point, and during quarantine, including:

Before leaving for Malaysia

  • Download and submit a health declaration form in the MySejahtera app and carry out an RT-PCR-COVID-19 test no later than three days before departure.
  • Bring these test results with you.
  • Request for home quarantine by email to this address (You can find the form in the Facebook post).
  • Bring the home quarantine approval email with you.

On arrival in Malaysia

  • Scanning the MySejahtera QR code for overseas travelers.
  • Temperature screening.
  • Review of COVID-19 test results.
  • Screening for COVID-19 Symptoms.

In related news, the Immigration Service recently released the latest procedures for Malaysian citizens trying to leave the country, effective July 26th and updated August 12th.

The following applies:

Malaysian citizens who can travel without prior authorization

  • Malaysian Embassy diplomats and officials working / returning overseas, including their respective dependents.
  • Students and relatives who are continuing their studies, provided they have a valid student visa or a dependent visa.
  • Holders of a long-term passport from overseas (Permanent Resident / Resident Pass / Work Pass etc.) – except in countries that are subject to additional restrictions, namely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
  • Those who work with oil companies and shipping companies who need to register on ships abroad.
  • Those who accompany students abroad for study purposes are limited to only two accompanying persons. Accompanying persons must leave the country at the same time as students.

Citizens who need to apply for a permit on MyTravelPass

  • New citizens who have received a job or study offer abroad.
  • Students who want to take exams abroad.
  • Participants in meetings / seminars / business abroad.
  • People who take part in sports exhibitions / competitions / training courses abroad by submitting a letter of support from the regulatory authority.
  • Travel to the emergency care of close relatives (death / family member due to accident / illness).
  • Spouse / Fiancee Visa holder (marriage not legally registered).
  • Individuals participating in humanitarian / religious relief missions by submitting a letter of approval from the JPM Joint Committee and other relevant evidence.
  • Holders of long-term passports abroad (Permanent Resident / Resident Pass / Work Pass etc.) from countries with additional restrictions, namely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Citizens are not allowed to leave the country

  • Those who intend to travel / go on vacation.
  • Those who intend to make regular visits to family members.
