Prime Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said that adventure tourism activities in the state need to be expanded. He directed the officials to work out such a tourism plan that would facilitate tourism activities throughout the year. While he stated that domestic tourism should also be encouraged, he also pointed out the need to work for an international airport in the state. The CM said this while chairing a tourism department review meeting here on Saturday.

The CM instructed officials to ensure that all arrangements are made taking into account the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, tourism season and Covid-19 situation. “We have to facilitate the implementation of tourist activities and at the same time ensure compliance with the Covid guidelines. To this end, discussions should be held with all those involved in tourism, and their suggestions and cooperation should be sought, ”said Rawat. The CM also said that adventure events should be held in different locations to promote adventure tourism. Attempts should be made to maximize the number of local youth linked to tourism through stays at home. Regarding the Char Dham Yatra, he said that all precautions should be taken with a special focus on sanitation and public facilities on the Yatra route. Work should also be done on the tourist safety management system, the CM added. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaaz said that religious cycles should be developed and broad public outreach should be carried out. The guidelines that apply to tourism considering Covid should be completely clear. The interests of those in the tourism industry should also be taken into account as much as possible, he added.

Tourism Secretary Dilip Jawalkar said the tourism department is working towards the goal of safe, consistent and inclusive tourism. While an Adventure Tourism Wing was being formed, the Ecotourism Wing was being worked on. A total of 3,107 stays in the department have so far been registered, he added.
