QUINCY (WGEM) – The Quincy Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is excited about the local funding they will soon receive to help promote the city.

Holly Cain is the Executive Director of the Quincy Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. She said they only looked at statewide essential spending over the past year, which means they couldn’t market Quincy to tourists.

“We don’t like to market Quincy and all the great things we have to offer. All of our restaurants and shops are open, our museums are coming,” said Cain.

“We’re also excited that most of our major city events are making plans to return this year.”

Cain said even though they can’t market Quincy, they still plan ahead.

“We have some good plans in the works. And we hope that our local funding will return to where it used to be. You know, our funding has been almost halved by our local hotel tax and our nationwide hotel tax. So we’re encouraged, visitors too here to see they’re starting to enter, “said Cain.
