David Bailey, Senior Advisor at CBRE and Brand Ambassador at HotStats, has joined Resident Hotels as a strategic growth and expansion advisor to support its ambitious development plans.

Privately run hotel company Resident Hotels has announced an important date.

Further expansion on the cards

David Bailey joins the group that currently operates four hotels in London and one in Liverpool and has 379 keys as it moves into the next phase of its expansion. A hotel in Edinburgh is already in the pipeline and the company plans to add an additional 1,200 to 1,500 rooms across the UK through management contracts over the next seven years.

David Orr, CEO of Resident Hotels, said, “I’ve worked with David throughout my career and have confidence and respect for his judgment, especially as we are credibly trying to accelerate our expansion. Resident Hotels is all about the team of skills and personality we have put together across all areas and David will be a valuable member as we move forward.

“We are targeting cities in the UK with broad shoulders and global economic importance that are economically and culturally relevant, in places where our guests are genuinely interested in staying and able to connect with the local neighborhood.”

Hotels that are part of the community

Bailey, who has known Orr for more than 20 years, said resident hotels have “an attractive model with striking differences.”

“It’s a business with a clear focus,” he said. “It’s sleek and profitable, and if you can find the right neighborhood, you can get high prices and a good return on investment, backed up by nice rooms with quality amenities.”

The new strategic growth and expansion consultant also particularly noticed the positive guest reviews that the company receives online, which repeatedly refer to the quality of the location and facilities of the hotels, but also name personalized guest experiences.

“Resident Hotels is a really interesting proposition because it is part of the community and helps attract customers to other local businesses and attractions,” he added. “So if you’re a progressive developer or property owner looking to create a thriving mixed-use destination, I can see resident matter.”

The owner and majority shareholder of Resident Hotels is Mactaggart Family & Partners, the operating platform of Western Heritable, a private equity firm and family office in the real estate sector.
