LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – With the rise in COVID cases, the Nevada Gaming Control Board is tightening the mask mandate.

The goal of keeping people safe as the New Year rings in.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board reminds hotels and casinos to comply with the governor’s mask mandate or face fines.

If you’re in one of these buildings and you’re not wearing a mask, be prepared to be asked to put on them. When you’re outside, it’s optional.

“I think there will be more people who want to wear the mask and there are some who don’t,” said “Claudia”, who lives in Las Vegas.

She has seen – and heard – complaints from visitors who fail to comply with the mask mandate.

She says that while she sees people mostly wearing their masks, some will not.

“But I saw employees tell them to wear your mask. And once I forgot. And they said wear it and I said ‘Oh!’ “

“Allison” is frustrated with the mandate.

“I think everyone wears them, but I think everyone just doesn’t want to. I think it violates our rights, and people in America died because of our rights. I think we’re over the masks, ”she said.

A mask is compulsory indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

The gambling control authority can not only punish gaming establishments – it can revoke a license.

As for fines, they are serious matters for gaming performance.

The latest enforcement against a Las Vegas casino included a $ 60,000 fine on Mohegan Sun Casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas after it opened in early March 2021.
