Colorado hotels continued their slow return to normal in April as the state and nation moved under the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nationwide hotel occupancy was 51.1% in April, after 35.1% at the beginning of the year in January and well above April 2020 when the occupancy was 16.8%.

April nightly stays, as reported by the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association, showed Greeley continues to top the list of communities covered by BizWest, with an occupancy rate of 66.4% in April. The average room rate for the month was $ 87.22.

Loveland hotels were occupied 58.1% of the time in April, averaging $ 96.04.

Fort Collins Hotels trailed Loveland at 56.5%, averaging $ 97.93.

Boulder, Longmont, and the US Highway 36 corridor all filled hotel rooms in the mid-range of 40%, with Boulder at 46.4%, Longmont at 44.7%, and the US 36 corridor at 44.3%. Prices varied between these three geographic areas: Boulder’s average room rate was $ 116.12, Longmont was $ 86.74, and the U.S. Corridor was $ 84.68.

Estes Park, back in April before its normal tourist season, filled 35.4% of its rooms at an average room rate of $ 155.96.
