Emma Vohs went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI to help power Ridge View to an 8-5 win over Westwood in the Western Valley Conference tournament on Wednesday at Galva.

Ridge View (14-7) scored three runs in the first inning, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.

The Raptors tallied eight hits in the game. Vohs led the charge with three. Tatum Shepherd hit a two-run home run and Katie Pickhinke blasted a solo shot. Abby Wandrey and Addison Schmidt each added an RBI single. Faith Freese also singled.

Vohs drove in three runs and Shepherd two. Vohs also scored a pair of runs.

Schmidt was the winning pitcher. She allowed seven hits and five runs, none of which were earned, walked none and struck out five over 61⁄3 innings. Shepherd got the final two outs to record the save.

Ridge View commits five errors in the game.

“We were happy with the victory and how we are hitting the ball hard and putting the ball into play,” Ridge View coach Scott Phelps said. “Our pitchers have been doing a great job making our opponents put the ball into play.”

Newell-Fonda 13, SCC 1

Newell-Fonda scored early and often to beat South Central Calhoun on Wednesday night.

The Mustangs (24-4) plated three runs in the first inning and added eight more in the second as they cruised to a Twin Lakes Conference win in Fonda.

Emmetsburg 8, Alta Aurelia 6

Alta-Aurelia took a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh innings, but the Warriors couldn’t hold it as Emmetsburg scored seven runs in its final at-bat to come away with a Twin Lakes Conference win on Wednesday at Emmetsburg.

Alta-Aurelia (9-11) scored all six of its runs in the third inning.

Spirit Lake 17, Storm Lake 1

Spirit Lake scored seven runs in the second inning and the Indians were never threatened after that as they defeated Storm Lake in a Lakes Conference game on Wednesday at Tornado Field.

The Indians scored single runs in the third and fourth innings before plating eight runs in the fifth.

Storm Lake was held to just one hit in the game. Avery DeHaan suffered the loss for the tornadoes.
