Sometimes you don’t mind roughing it up in one tent for a budget friendly vacation. In other cases, you might want to treat yourself to something nicer hotel with breakfast buffet and room service. Enjoying the good things in life doesn’t necessarily mean breaking the bank, however.

A card that was discovered by Thrillist Breakdown of the cost of 5-star hotels in 100 popular travel destinations around the world. The Asher & Lyric travel site used TripAdvisor data on the average midweek cost of a stay at the top five-rated hotels in each travel destination to determine the numbers. The analysis took into account fluctuating costs from one season to the next, and the graph shows what to expect in high season versus other seasons.

Places like Aspen and the Cayman Islands are predictably among the areas with the most expensive hotels, but other vacation spots are surprisingly affordable. To take Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, for example. This city of skyscrapers is a popular luxury destination – it’s called the City of Gold, after all – but its 5-star hotels are third cheapest on the map, only Chennai in India and Manila in the Philippines.

At the other end of the spectrum, you’d spend less money on a fancy hotel in New York City, Paris, or Rome than you would on Wyoming’s Jackson Hole in high season. If you’re looking to travel domestically, visit Las Vegas, Houston, and Atlanta. Of America’s top travel destinations, these cities offer some of the most affordable 5-star hotels.
