RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Rising concerns about the Omicron variant are leading people to run to pharmacies to get their COVID test – especially when people return from vacation. So much is the rush that many report that all of their home test kits are completely sold out.

“I just want to make sure I don’t bring anything home since we were away on vacation,” said Maggie Johnson, who had traveled to New York. “We’re fully vaccinated, but you just never know.”

Both Walgreens and CVS locations across Richmond reported that these test kits were completely sold out. In response to the rush Richmond-Henrico Health Districts have added COVID testing sites provide more resources for those who want to be tested or vaccinated.

The first will be on Tuesday, December 28th at Second Baptist Church on Broad Rock Boulevard from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The second will take place on Wednesday December 29th at the Eastern Henrico Rec Center in North Laburnum from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Officials say they expect long lines for these test sites, but urge everyone to get tested and show their patience.
