RIU Plaza Resort’s Façade Set up Wraps Up At 145 West 47th Road In Instances Sq., Manhattan

Work on the RIU Plaza Hotel, a 48-story skyscraper, is coming to an end 145 West 47th St in Times Square. Designed by Berg + Moss Architects and developed by Tribeach Holdings, the 519-foot, 353,000-square-foot reinforced concrete superstructure will accommodate 630 rooms. Transom Builders Group is the general contractor for the property, located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

The finishing touches have continued ever since our last update End of September. The main south facade, overlooking West 47th Street, is largely complete, with only minor work remaining on the ground floor. Since our last visit, facade work has been completed on the east and west facades and the RIU logo has been placed on the west side of the crown.

Work is still being completed on the rear of the building where a section at the northwest corner has yet to be filled in with the metal panels and floor to ceiling windows. Most of the windows are on the north and south sides, with a smaller group on the east and west sides, probably intended only for the corridors outside the elevators.

The hotel’s podium houses a multi-story parking garage hidden behind the expansive billboard, followed by a restaurant directly above where we can see the floor-to-ceiling windows and hanging interior lights. Above this, the main tower begins with a repeating stack of floor panels. Hotel rooms will begin on the seventh floor, with each floor offering approximately 17 guest rooms. 145 West 47th Street operates adjacent to its other RIU hotel in Midtown, Manhattan, nearby at 305 West 46th Street.

The RIU Plaza Hotel is expected to open sometime in the first half of 2022.
