Vaccinated travelers could be in the Mediterranean this summer as cruise ship Royal Caribbean has announced that it will be launching cruises for fully vaccinated travelers in Cyprus and Greece starting in July.

The “jewel of the seas” takes passengers from Limassol in Cyprus (which will act as the new home port) to Athens in Greece and the Greek islands of Rhodes, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini.

The seven-night cruise begins on July 10th. Bookings for the trips can be made from April 7th.

“We are very pleased that Royal Caribbean will designate Limassol as its home port for the first time,” said Savvas Perdios, Deputy Minister of Tourism for Cyprus, in a statement on Thursday.

“This has been our goal for many years and we are thrilled that this dream has finally come true. We are confident that Royal Caribbean’s presence in Limassol will be beneficial to Cyprus and we are also very confident that Cyprus will be its home port and as a country meets the expectations of Royal Caribbean and its guests. “

Travelers over the age of 18 must be fully vaccinated against coronavirus to take the cruise, and travelers under the age of 18 must present negative Covid-19 test results.

We know how eager our guests are to enjoy a getaway this summer and these departures, which include a mix of amazing destinations and must-see islands, are the perfect getaway spot.

The ship itself spans 13 decks and has pools and hot tubs, plus a spa, fitness center, climbing wall, casino, sports field, 9-hole mini golf course, and outdoor movie screen.

There are currently travelers from the UK not allowed entering Cyprus and it is illegal to travel abroad from the UK on vacation.

Today, March 29th, a new law was passed stating that travelers from England must have a “legitimate reason” to travel abroad, including work, volunteering, education, medical or compassionate reasons, weddings and funerals up to at least June 30th Travel without good cause could result in a fine of £ 5,000.

While May 17th is the set date for overseas travel from England to begin again, we should know more when the Government Task Force report is released on April 12th.
