Applicants must have the appointment of Assistant Professor or higher at MUSC in the major faculty. Applicants must not have any existing funding that can support the proposed program. The applicant undertakes to assume responsibility for supporting the students with travel preparation, the activities to be carried out at the location, the supervision and the safety of the applicant. Previous winners are eligible, but preference will be given to those who have not received an award in the past 12 months.

1st proposal. Provide a two-page proposal (11 Arial font size, 0.5 inch margins minimum) that includes the following information and appropriate headings:

A. A description of the proposed program / project

B. Outline and schedule of activities to be carried out (including an estimate of the number and type of students who will take part in the trip)

C. Rationale: Explain the reasons for proposing the program and how it aims to promote the professional development of students (including a clear explanation of the students’ learning objectives)

D. Description of the host institution / partner

e. Background relevant to the proposed project and applicant’s experience with international programs

F. Describe how students will be prepared for fieldwork

G. Describe your mentoring plan

H. If applicable, describe the plan for the continuity / sustainability of the program

I. Fostering Global Skills: Describe relevant cross-cultural learning opportunities that students will take advantage of in this program

2. Budget. (Breakdown of expenses such as accommodation, visa, flights, meals, vaccinations). Funds can be used for pre-travel vaccinations, visa / passport fees, airfare, and room and board related to your global health experience. middle not allowed used to support the salary. Travel and accommodation (i.e. amounts, items, class of flight) must comply with MUSC’s travel guidelines.

3. Letter of invitation from the host or partner institution. A letter of support from this organization must be attached to the application. The letter should explicitly describe what support the host organization will provide for the proposed project and who is the main point of contact for the project in the organization. If there is no cooperating institution, justify how goals can be achieved instead of an employee in the country.

4. Support letters from MUSC students. Applicants can submit a letter of support from a MUSC student. The student should discuss the candidate’s potential and willingness to lead the proposed project and describe ways in which the candidate has mentored past and current students.
