The owners of the historic Shelborne Hotel are planning a renovation of the oceanfront South Beach.

Shelborne Hotel Partners WC LP made a proposal to the Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board for the partial demolition, renovation and restoration of parts of the hotel. The joint venture King Street, Westdale and Cedar Capital is proposing to renovate the common areas on the ground floor, demolish the townhouses in the lobby, install a retractable awning over the mezzanine terrace and build a new pool and garden in the eastern part of the building the property. The owners also plan to add operable windows to the penthouse unit.
