As of May 30, there are 1,444 active cases in Bangladesh. 152,734 in India; 3,702 in Nepal; 2,117 in Pakistan and 2,859 in Sri Lanka. Travel for residents of Singapore to Australia (excluding Victoria State), Brunei Darussalam, New Zealand and mainland China remain open.

In an update (May 31, 2021)The Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) has advised Singapore residents to postpone all types of travel to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka until further notice. This is due to the recent sharp increase in cases reported in these countries / regions.

From May 30thThere are 1,444 active cases in Bangladesh. 152,734 in India; 3,702 in Nepal; 2,117 in Pakistan and 2,859 in Sri Lanka.

However, Singapore residents can travel overseas in the following cases:

  • Travel to the following countries / regions: Australia (excluding Victoria State), Brunei Darussalam, New Zealand and mainland China.
  • Study or professional qualification abroad, for courses or exams that require physical presence at the foreign educational institution *;
  • Taking up or returning to work abroad for job opportunities that require a physical presence abroad **;
  • For essential travel for business, official and professional purposes within the framework of green / fast lane agreements and the regular shuttle service;
  • For compassionate reasons (e.g. death of a critically ill family member);
  • To receive medical treatment that is unreasonable in Singapore; or
  • To return to the country of residence, for or after the fulfillment of legal / contractual obligations.

* Students enrolled in local educational institutions can travel abroad to take a compulsory part of the course or an exam that cannot be taken locally. Students under the age of 18 can be accompanied by an adult. Older students can travel abroad with their relatives who live with them during their studies.

** Singapore residents traveling to take up or resume employment abroad may travel with their dependents who will reside with them for the duration of their employment.

If this is not the case, Singapore residents are advised to postpone all other forms of overseas travel.

MOH also recommends travelers to check the entry requirements of the countries and regions they intend to travel to. At the same time, take all necessary precautions, maintain good personal hygiene, monitor local developments and follow advice from local authorities.

All travelers are subject the prevailing border measures upon entry into Singapore, including payment for their stay in dedicated SHN facilities and testswhere applicable.

If Singapore Citizens (SCs) and Permanent Residents (PRs) have symptoms within 14 days of their return to Singapore and require hospitalization with suspected COVID-19 infection, they can count on government subsidies, MediShield Life and Integrated Shield Plan access (IP) cover.

Holders of a long-term pass (LTPH), on the other hand, can use their usual financing modalities, B. a private insurance, fall back.
