From July 2nd, travel restrictions will be tightened for travelers from Australia, but eased for travelers from Guangdong, China.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) closed on June 30th updated Singapore’s border measures for Singapore Citizens (SCs), Permanent Residents (PRs) and Long Term Pass holders who are entering Singapore with travel experience (within the last 21 days) Australia, and Guangdong Province, China.

Effective July 2, 2021 (Friday), 2359 hours, the following measures apply to those coming from Australia:

  • A COVID-19 PCR test on arrival
  • A seven-day stay-home notice (SHN) at your place of residence
  • A COVID-19 PCR test before the end of the SHN period.

However, short-term travelers with an Air Travel Pass (ATP) with a travel history to Australia within the last 21 days before departure are not allowed to enter Singapore.

This is given the recent surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in Australia. As of June 30, the country has a total of 317 active cases. According to Australian government statistics, there have been 31 community cases in the past 24 hours.

Relaxed restrictions on those from Guangdong Province

We had previously announced that travelers from Guangdong Province, China will undergo a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival, a seven-day SHN at home and a COVID-19 PCR test before the end of the SHN period, “MOH said in its press release.

Since the COVID-19 situation has improved there, it is effective July 2, 2021 (Friday), 2359 hours, the following measures apply to those coming from Guangdong:

  • A COVID-19 PCR test on arrival. Travelers are allowed to pursue their activities in Singapore if the result of the PCR test is negative;
  • There is no need to deliver a seven-day SHN at the place of residence.

Short-term travelers with a travel history to Guangdong, China within the last 21 days before departure can apply for an ATP to travel to Singapore on or after July 7, 2021 with immediate effect.

“They will be subjected to a COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival and will be allowed to carry out their activities in Singapore if the result of the PCR test is negative,” MOH said.

Travelers who already take their seven-day SHN at their place of residence on July 2, 2021, have to fill out this SHN for another 2359 hours and leave the swab.

According to the MOH, all other travelers who traveled to China (excluding Guangdong) in the 21 days prior to departure will be subjected to a COVID-19 test instead of their SHN upon arrival at the airport.

The ministry also urged travelers to visit Safe journey to check for the latest border measures before entering the country.
