CORFU – It took a long time for Alexander Hurler Samantha Sawyer.

Sawyer missed the entire 2019 season with a torn ACL and, like everyone else, was hit by COVID-19 last year. She returned to the circle on Tuesday and picked up exactly where she left off.

Sawyer scattered eight hits and scored 14 hits when she overtook Pembroke ace Allie Schwerthoffer in a 7-3 win for Alexander.

Eighth grader of the Trojans, Emily Pietrzykowski, got her first college hit with a solo home in the fifth to give Alexander a 3-1 lead, while she doubled in another run in the sixth and her day 2-3 finished with an HR, 2B, and 2 RBI to lead the Alexander Offensive.

Schwerthoffer only allowed five hits and hit eleven in the defeat, while she and Nicole von Kramer each went 2: 4 on the plate for the dragons.

“This win is special for us. We are all very happy that Sammie can be back out there after her injury in 2019 and the lost season last year,” said Alexander head coach Dan Prong. “It was just great for her to come back like this. She attacked her rehab and got ready to leave, desperate to get back where she belongs. I’m so happy for her and I’m excited to see what she can do now that she can finally play. “

4-1, Alexander scored three goals in seventh place to essentially end the game.

ATTICA 10, BYRON-BERGEN 4

Brittany Martin hit eleven and got around nine hits while also joining up on a home run to lead the Blue Devils to victory.

Attika ended the afternoon with 12 goals in the game as Martin, Sam Daley, Makenna Jarnot and Maddie Robinson each racked up multiple hits for the win.

Lexi Vurraro and Maddie Pimm each had multiple hits in the defeat for the Bees, while Kendall Phillips hit 10 in the circle.

OAKFIELD-ALABAMA 6, NOTRE DAME 5

The Hornets used another comeback to improve to 2-0 compared to the previous year. Notre Dame led 4-0 after the first inning, but OA stormed back with five runs behind a fourth inning.

Piper Hyde and CJ Ryan recorded a couple of hits and a run each, while Ryan added two RBIs. Sarah Gilbert took the win in the circle, allowed five hits and hit six.

Kaydence Stehlar scored a solo home run for ND.

Hayley Papp threw a full game with two hits and ended the 2: 4 with an RBI in an easy win for the Oatkan Knights.

Kailyn Tresco had a monster day on Le Roy’s plate when she ended with two home runs and five RBIs, while Bryn Luckey tore four hits with two punches and Felicity Wieseltier had three hits and one RBI.

Ellie Scheiner had a hit and an RBI for Geneseo.

Josh Merrill was 4-on-4 with one triple, double and six runs while Joey Donnelly was 2-on-3 with three RBIs when the Trojans rolled.

Gunnar Kania also had a lovely afternoon with two hits and three RBIs while Nolan Quackenbush had a double with two runs.

Hunter Fletcher started for Alexander, scoring three scoreless innings without hits with six strokes, while Donnelly pitched two innings and allowed two hits.

Andrew Hare and Connor Scott bonded in a one-hitter when the Lancers got past rival Bees. Caleb Scouten knocked in two RBI for Elba while Angelo Penna recorded a couple of hits to speed up the Lancers offensive.
