The Sonoma Volunteer Fire Department (SVFA) continues the tradition of the 4th of July celebrations in Sonoma by bringing the community together to honor our great nation’s independence with a patriotic car ride through the Sonoma Valley organized by the Devils Darling’s starting at 9:00 am and ends the holiday with the annual fireworks show at dusk on Sunday 4th July.

Patriotic car cruise

The cruise departs at 9:00 AM from the Sonoma Veteran’s Hall parking lot, crosses the plaza, up Highway 12 to Glen Ellen, and then back down Arnold Dr to Verano Ave.

Anyone with a vintage car or truck is encouraged to show up at 8:30 a.m. and join the cruise. Local residents are invited to watch the cruise anywhere along the route.

Fireworks show

SVFA is looking forward to the return of its annual fireworks display after the 2020 show was canceled due to Covid-19. The spectacular fireworks start at dusk and last around 45 minutes.

This year, the SVFA asks viewers not to collect and watch the fireworks from the fields around the launch area near Vallejo’s house. Instead, viewers are encouraged to watch the show from home or remotely.

Follow SVFA on Facebook for security notifications and weather updates.

Keep Sonoma Safe – Celebrate Responsibly

The SVFA and the City of Sonoma wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July. Public safety is our top priority, make it yours too! Here are three very important ways you can help keep your family and community safe this holiday:

1. Leave the fireworks to the professionals

With the Sonoma Volunteer Firefighters Association’s local fireworks show slated for Sunday, July 4th, you don’t have to put on your own show at home – it’s not worth the risk to you or your property. Adding illegal fireworks to the early start of the fire season and an increasing number of red flag warning days is a dangerous combination.

PLEASE NOTE: Fireworks are illegal and illegal in Sonoma City Unincorporated Sonoma County. Owners will be held accountable for fireworks activities that take place on their property and will be cited accordingly, regardless of who owns or lights the fireworks. Violations will result in a fine of $ 1,000.

2. Avoid gatherings if you are not vaccinated

The risk of Covid-19 remains high for unvaccinated people. This is especially true of the more contagious Delta variant that is spreading across the United States. The county’s health officials say individuals should avoid gatherings on the busy July 4th weekend if they are not vaccinated. When attending gatherings, practice social distancing and wear a mask.

3. Don’t drink and drive

Drunk driving hits an all-time high around the fourth every year. This year, be smart, drive safely when out on the roads, and don’t get behind the wheel after your drink.

We look forward to celebrating Sunday with you and hosting our prestigious Independence Day celebration in 2022 with a parade, festival and fireworks show. Happy 4th Sonoma!
