Movie lovers know that “It’s a Wonderful Life” doesn’t really have a happy ending until Harry Bailey makes it back to Bedford Falls safely for Christmas and toasted his brother George as “the richest man in town”.

Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays for military personnel are sacred traditions in American family life. Families sometimes experience for the first time how much service has matured their sons and daughters, and the young military officers often discover how much their training has changed them when they first return to their old life.

In a perfect world, the trip for these vacation visits would be smooth and uneventful, with all the drama that would be saved for the family table. Unfortunately, travelers have to deal with bad weather, mechanical problems on the plane, missed train or bus connections and broken cars.

Of course, travel wasn’t a huge issue in 2020 as most stayed in place during the pandemic. Let’s remember before, when everyone was trying to get vacation.
