Celebrity Cruises has entered the next phase of the digital age with the announcement of their first ever NFT (non-fungible tokens).
The first NFT collection for Celebrity Cruises will feature artist Ruben Robierb, and the collection will be named Peacemakers Sunset. Each NFT will be accompanied by two invitations to Celebrity Beyond’s official naming ceremony in Fort Lauderdale on November 4, 2022.
In a statement by Celebrity Cruises Chief Marketing Officer, Michael Scheiner, “innovation is a pillar of the Celebrity Cruises experience and a distinguishing characteristic of our ships, so its only fitting to bring this heritage into the new digital revolution of NFTs and the metaverse. The scale and scope of what’s possible in this space, and the way we can connect our guests with new immersive and accessible experiences, is really endless. Its exciting to take this first step with the talents and artistry of Rubem.”

An NFT according to Forbes, “is a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos. They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and that are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos.”
The Peacemakers Sunset NFT collection will consist of an edition of five modern art pieces. The NFTs are currently scheduled to go on sale, and be available for purchase on June 1, 2022 via OpeanSea platform.
In addition, the first ever NFT at sea will make its appearance onboard Celebrity Beyond in an NFT titled, Peacemakers, Blue Sky.

An interesting fact about the NFTs, once they are available for purchase, they can be resold and exchanged an unlimited amount of times. On July 1, 2022 each owner of a Peacemakers Sunset NFT will be the recipient of the invitations to witness the official naming ceremony of Celebrity Beyond. The invitations also include round trip airfare for two individuals. Those who receive an invitation will also be given the opportunity to board Celebrity Beyond for the sailing that will follow the naming ceremony, from November 4-6, 2022.
Artist Rubem Robierb currently lives and works in New York City and Miami, and has been recognized worldwide as an influential artist. Celebrity Beyond will feature other work by Robierb, including Dream Machine, and an incorporation of Robierb’s work into the live production show Arte onboard.
