GROTON, SD (KELO) – Tabor Post 183 and Madison Post 25 each advanced in the winners class of the Class B Legion Baseball State Tournament with wins in the opening rounds on Friday, July 30th.

GAME 1 – TABOR POST 183 – 12 BIG STONE CITY POST 229 – 0 FINAL / 5

Tabor scored in each of their at bats as they scored one in the first inning, three in the second, five in the third, and three in the fourth inning to claim the 12-0 victory.

Carter Uecker won the win in 4 innings of work. He only allowed two hits while hitting seven.

Nolan Dvorak and Kaleb Kubal each went 3: 3 with three runs.

Tabor will meet the Vermillion and Redfield winner on Saturday, July 31st at 5:00 p.m.

GAME 2 – MADISON POST 25 – 6 WINNERS / COLOME POST 169 – 5 FINALS

Game two of the state tournament offered much closer competition.

Winner / Colome scored first, leading 1-0 until Madison scored five runs in the third to build a 5-1 lead.

A single, a mistake, a double, a single and another single result in five straight runs for Madison in the third.

Post 169 would slowly break away from the lead until Aiden Barefoot delivered a game that was equal to the tip of the seventh triple.

That lead didn’t last long, however, as Madison’s Nathan Ricke delivered a game-winning single on the third baseline.

Madison earned the 6-5 win and they advance in the winning class. You play against the winner from Groton and Lake Norden / Badger on Saturday night.
