It’s been a decade Dew offered a European river cruise that included the Floriade International Horticultural Expo by doing Netherlands. For the repetition of this once-a-decade festival in 2022, Tauck plans to meet the strong demand with four different river cruises that offer the opportunity to take part in the Floriade.

To give an indication of how popular Floriade was, CEO of Tauck Dan Mahar | A press release indicated that the 2012 edition of Floriade drew more than 2 million visitors, four times as many as the 2010 performances of the Oberammergau Passion play, another popular cultural event that takes place every ten years on Tauck river cruises.
Next year’s Floriade, Mahar said, will be much more than a simple flower show. The theme of the fair is “Growing green cities, “And it features elements ranging from green architecture to environmentally friendly food production to renewable energies and healthy living. The exhibition will unfold on 148 hectares of land in the city Almere which were raised from the sea and reclaimed. When Floriade is over at the end of next year, the various buildings and facilities will work together as a new, environmentally friendly urban center.
The Floriade Expo will offer more than enough to please those with strong horticultural interests. It offers landscapes, gardens and greenhouses with a huge collection of flowers, trees, shrubs, plants and plants from more than 40 countries. The festival also features live entertainment, themed cultural programs and exhibitions, international pavilions, restaurants, food trucks and specialty tastings, and a diverse campus connected by gondolas, trains, bridges and walkways.
Early admission
Tauck’s guests enjoy a full day at the Floriade, highlighted by early admission one hour before the fair opens to the general public and a 90-minute guided tour in small groups through the main attractions organized by a Floriade expert. Each guest also receives a Floriade credit card issued by Tauck worth 25 euros, which they can use to have lunch in the restaurants of their choice or purchase memories of their visit, if they prefer.
Tauck has also secured docking privileges nearby Houses, a short 10-minute drive from the Floriade site. Round-trip private transportation between the river boat and the exhibition campus is provided for the convenience and flexibility of guests.
A visit to Floriade as well as admission to the fair, shuttle transport and the Floriade credit card are included in Tauck’s cruise tariffs, as are all other shore excursions, tips, wine and spirits on board, airport transfers, baggage handling and more.
Information on Tauck’s four 2022 river cruises with Floriade was recently posted on the company’s website and can also be downloaded in an eight-page e-brochure. When Tauck begins stepping up his promotional efforts for Floriade, Mahar urged potential cruisers to make their plans quickly.
With the Oberammergau Passion Play, Tauck was 90 percent sold out before the company began actively promoting it. Maher said he expected the same reaction with regards to the Floriade sailing.
